Your Best Simple Skincare Routine
You’ve decided to prioritize self-care and start by building a healthy skincare routine. It can be overwhelming to figure out where to start, especially when there are so many different products out there. But don't worry, you don't actually need 11 different skincare products! In fact, using too many products can make your skin more sensitive and irritated. So, let's keep it simple and focus only on the essentials. Here's a dermatology doctor-approved skincare routine that will help your skin be the best it can be.
Morning Skincare Routine:
1. Cleanse your face
Begin your skincare routine by using a gentle and hydrating cleanser. This will help to cleanse your skin without causing too much harshness or dryness. Remember to do this every day.
2. Active ingredient
The active ingredient is the ingredient in your skincare product that will make the desired change in your skin. For example, if you want to brighten your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, go for a vitamin C serum. If your skin tends to be dry and in need of some serious hydration, try a product that contains ceramides or hyaluronic acid. And if you're dealing with hyperpigmentation, give azelaic acid a go. This step will vary for each person, as you should choose an active ingredient based on your unique skin needs. Simply apply your chosen active ingredient directly onto your skin to help it absorb better. Personally, I love using a vitamin C serum during this step.
3. Moisturiser
Apply your moisturiser here. If you have acne-prone skin, it would be best to use a light non-comedogenic moisturiser.
4. Sunscreen
Use sunscreen to protect your skin against UV rays throughout the day. Not only does it help prevent skin cancer, but it's also the best way to keep your skin looking young and prevent any dark spots (hyperpigmentation) from getting darker. It helps to protect your skin against skin cancer. It is also the best thing you can do to slow down the appearance of ageing on the skin, and to prevent hyperpigmentation from darkening.
Evening Skincare Routine:
1. Cleanse your face
Before going to sleep, cleanse your face to remove your makeup and other impurities that have been collected on your face throughout the day. Recently, I have been loving cleansing milks for this!
2. Active ingredient
Again, apply your active ingredient directly onto to skin here. This is a good place to apply your retinol to help your skin cells regenerate overnight.
3. Moisturiser
Moisturise, sleep & repeat!
And there we have it! A simple and effective skincare routine!
